The GeoCafe Experience works great as HomeSchool Experience or Summer Experience.
Description
The GeoCafe experience offers a unique combination of geometry and baking. Modeled after Newcastle Upon Tyne's Cakebook Challenge, teens and tweens create edible landscapes. In addition, they plan and prepare a "Geo" dessert menu for the final day, where they display and serve their creations. For an additional add-on, you can have friends and family work together to build an enormous geodesic dome as a culminating activity.
Mathematical concepts applied include: area, perimeter, volume, nets, rigid motion, similarity transformations, properties of 2D shapes and 3D solids, language of geometry and measurement and more!
A Choice Experience
You Choose the Location
GeoCafe can take place in your home or at a site of your choosing. All you need to host GeoCafe is a kitchen, a large table and an outdoor space (detailed requirements will be discussed upon booking). Serving locations in Hunterdon, Warren, Somerville and Morris counties. Please contact me to confirm your location.
You Choose the Week and Time
You decide which week to host GeoCafe! You decide what time you'd like to start (runs six hours daily, including lunch). Reserve early, as weeks get booked up fast. To avoid disappointment, it is best to have several weeks in mind. Stay tuned for Summer 2018 Schedule. Contact me directly for school holiday availability.
You Choose the Audience
GeoCafe works great as both a homeschool experience and a summer experience. If you wish to integrate GeoCafe into your homeschool curriculum, feel free to contact me directly, as the program can be tailored to meet your needs.
You Choose the Size
GeoCafe starts at $2000 for 4 participants. Experiences can have a maximum of 8 participants ages 10 - 16. Please contact me to learn more about having children under the age of 10 participate (the math included and child to adult ratio is different).
Note: If participants provide an adult helper, only one Choice Experience Leader will be provided and there will be a $400 discount on groups over 5 kids.
